Acknowledgment of Risks

I acknowledge and understand that woodworking involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Use of sharp tools and machinery that can cause cuts, burns, or serious injuries.
  • Exposure to wood dust, fumes, and other airborne particles that may cause respiratory issues.
  • Risk of fire, falling objects, and other hazards associated with a woodworking environment.
  • The potential for personal injury due to misuse of tools or failure to follow safety instructions.

Participants must remain cautious and follow safety protocols at all times. Familiarity with a process DOES NOT eliminate risk, and overcofindance or unsafe behaviour, including attempts to impress others while operating power tools can lead to accidents and will not be tolerated.

Safety Agreement

I agree to:

  • Follow all safety guidelines and instructions provided by the instructor.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and ear protection when required.
  • Use tools and machinery only as instructed and with proper safety measures in place.
  • Not wear loose clothing when operating power tools and machines that may catch the fabric.
  • Wear my hair up if I have long hair.
  • Not rush as I work and move throughout the workshop.
  • Ask and speak up if I am unsure about any process or safety measure.
  • Not operate any tools I have not been instructed in.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, injuries, or incidents to the instructor immediately.
  • Not consume alcohol or drugs before or during the class.

Waiver and Release of Liability

In consideration of being allowed to participate in the woodworking class, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless the workshop, its instructors, employees, and affiliates from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising from any injuries, losses, or damages that may occur as a result of my participation, including those caused by negligence.

I understand that I am responsible for my own safety and well-being during the class and assume all risks associated with woodworking activities.
